Brazil have kept a record 48 World Cup clean sheets. They are followed by Germany (41), England (36) and Italy (32).

The Seleção shutout leaders are Leao (8), Taffarel (8), Gilmar (7), Alisson (5) and Carlos (4), who shares the record for the goalkeeper conceding the fewest goals per game in the competition’s history with Portugal’s Eduardo.

Brazil are one of five teams to have averaged letting in fewer than a goal per game in the World Cup (minimum two participations). Their figure of 0.947 trails the Netherlands (0.945), Italy (0.93), England (0.92) and Republic of Ireland (0.77).
