Dorgeles Nene scored seven goals in his last seven appearances – an exceptional haul from central midfield. The 22-year-old’s brace and assist on the Bundesliga’s final day helped FC Salzburg beat Rapid 4-2 and pip Austria Vienna and Wolfsberg to a place in the UEFA Champions League’s qualifying rounds.
Nene finished the season as Salzburg’s leading marksman and joint-top assister. The 22-year-old idolises Neymar and is renowned for pulling off one of the Brazilian’s patented pieces of control.
Nene, who can operate as a defensive or attacking midfielder, out wide or up front, has been linked with several European giants but recently committed himself to Salzburg until 2028. He has been starring for Mali in FIFA World Cup 26™ qualifying.
Salzburg will play CF Pachuca in Cincinnati, Al Hilal in Washington, D.C. and Real Madrid C.F. in Philadelphia in Group H at the FIFA Club World Cup.
