Real Madrid C. F. forward Gonzalo Garcia has moved into first place in the race to be named FIFA Club World Cup 2025™ Top Goal Scorer presented by Bank of America.
The 21-year-old, who has been one of the sensations of the tournament, netted his fourth goal in five games when he opened the scoring in Real’s 3-2 quarter-final victory over Borussia Dortmund.
Garcia was thrust into the limelight in the group phase when Kylian Mbappe was sidelined by illness, and he has responded by providing either a goal or an assist in the meetings with Al Hilal, CF Pachuca, FC Salzburg, Juventus FC and now Dortmund.
The fact Garcia has one assist to his name means he is now the outright leader in the Top Goal Scorer rankings, ahead of Benfica veteran Angel Di Maria, Al Hilal frontman Marcos Leonardo and Borussia Dortmund’s Serhou Guirassy, who have all been eliminated from the tournament.
Of the players on three goals and within striking distance of Garcia’s mark, only Chelsea midfielder Pedro Neto remains in the competition heading into the semi-final stage.

Top Goal Scorer criteria
The Top Goal Scorer Presented by Bank of America will be awarded to the player who scores the most goals in the final competition. If two or more players score the same number of goals, the number of assists (as determined by the members of the FIFA Technical Study Group) shall be decisive.
If two or more players are still equal after taking into account the number of assists, the total minutes played in the tournament will be taken into account, with the player playing fewer minutes ranked first.
