Brazil star Evelin poised to enter global stage

Regardless of how far Brazil go at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Morocco 2025™, the team never deviates from one precious rule: showcase extraordinary talent. Rafaelle Souza, Raquel Fernandes, Kerolin, Andressinha and Thaisinha are just some of the top players who have lit up the prestigious youth tournament in the past.

In Morocco, the player best positioned to be Brazil’s breakout star is Evelin Bonifacio Nascimento. The 17-year-old has risen to prominence with Santos, and is now looking to leave her mark in yellow and green. “It’s a wonderful feeling to represent my country in a competition like this,” the young Brazilian told FIFA. “Hopefully we’ll start with a win [against Morocco].”

If she can maintain the momentum she showed during qualifying, the young attacker could wreak havoc on the pitches of Rabat and Sale. With six goals, she was the third-highest scorer at the 2025 CONMEBOL Sub-17 Femenino, helping the Seleção qualify comfortably for Morocco 2025.

“I like to play with intensity, always looking to attack and stay in motion,” she said. “I work very hard and always stay focused so that one day I can join the senior national team and play to represent Brazil.”

After a narrow group-stage exit at Dominican Republic 2024, Brazil are determined not to miss out on advancing to the knockout stages this time around. Ideally, that would start with three points against a Moroccan side backed by the entire Prince Moulay Abdellah Olympic Stadium – something Evelin is not particularly worried about.

“I don’t think it changes anything [to play Morocco at home],” the teenager insisted. “We’re going to stay focused on our work and on what the coach asks of us. God willing, we’ll get that win.”

Although she has come to North Africa in search of collective success, the Santos player also hopes to “grow as a person and as a professional” alongside a squad whose atmosphere she particularly enjoys. “Our football is synonymous with joy, determination and unity,” she said. “We play with our hearts and are constantly strengthening our team spirit, fighting for one another.”

Brazil’s U-17s have never reached the last four of the tournament, but under head coach Rilany Silva, and led by the talent of Giovanna Waksman, Gabi Pusch, Ravenna and of course Evelin, they are dreaming of a historic run in Morocco.
