Javier Aguirre

Aguirre – who is enjoying his third spell as Mexico boss – delivered a trophy-laden 2025, as the nation prepare to co-host the FIFA World Cup 26™. He led El Tri to a maiden Concacaf Nations League triumph in March following a dramatic 2-1 victory over Panama in the Los Angeles showpiece. Four months later, Mexico retained their Concacaf Gold Cup crown for the first time since 2011 with a comeback win against USA in Houston.

Mikel Arteta

Arsenal enjoyed another strong year of development under Spaniard Arteta. The Gunners finished as runners-up in the English Premier League, while boasting the strongest defence in the division. In Europe, the North London side reached a first UEFA Champions League semi-final in 16 years, before they were edged out by eventual winners Paris Saint-Germain.

Luis Enrique

Domestic success has long been the norm at PSG, but a continental title had eluded them until earlier this year. Under Enrique, the Parisiens seized Ligue 1, the Coupe de France and the Trophée des Champions, before finally lifting the UEFA Champions League. They defeated Inter Milan in sport-shaking 5-0 win, ensuring they became the first French side to win a continental treble. Those exploits saw the Spaniard named the French Professional Footballers’ Association Ligue 1 Manager of the Year, and he also guided his charges to the final of the FIFA Club World Cup.

Hansi Flick

Barcelona dazzled throughout 2024/25, as they won La Liga, the Cope del Rey and the Supercopa de Espana. New boss Flick built an exciting, high-possession side which went on to score 102 league goals – the most seen in Spain’s top flight since 2017 – and reach the UEFA Champions League semi-finals.

Enzo Maresca

The Chelsea faithful couldn’t have asked for much more from Maresca’s debut term in the dugout, as the Blues clinched two titles to complete their trophy set, while finishing fourth in the Premier League. They secured a UEFA Conference League triumph over Real Betis in May, before defeating PSG 3-0 in a memorable FIFA Club World Cup 2025™ decider.

Roberto Martinez

In June, Portugal became the first side to win the UEFA Nations League for a second time. Martinez, who was appointed in 2023, masterminded a quarter-final comeback win over Denmark, a semi-final success against Germany and a shootout win versus Spain to clinch his first title in international football.

Arne Slot

Replacing the outgoing Jurgen Klopp looked a tall order, but Slot quickly set about building on the strong foundations left by his predecessor. The Reds lost just one of the Dutchman’s opening 30 league matches, moving into top spot on 2 November and remaining there throughout to win an historic 20th title. On a personal level, he scooped the Premier League Manager of the Season Award, while also taking home the League Managers’ Association Manager of the Year prize.
