The goals are set to rain down in the Philippines, but which player will finish the first FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup™ having scored more than the rest? FIFA spotlights the leading contenders for the adidas Golden Boot.
Renata Adamatti
The Italy pivot may spend time on the wing, and will have to face two of the world’s best teams in the group stage, but that’s insufficient to rule out the net-rippling phenomenon. Renata finished as the Italian championship’s leading markswoman last season, with 36 goals in 22 games, is its top scorer this term, and struck seven times in six outings in UEFA qualifying for these finals.
Ana Luiza
The 25-year-old’s minutes will be limited as Wilson Saboia rotates, but she doesn’t need many of them to find the target. Ana Luiza netted in each of her last five matches for Torreblanca Melilla, and has five goals in her last four Brazil appearances.
Laura Cordoba
The 22-year-old’s goal statistics belie her position. The fixo topped the Spanish championship’s scoring chart in 2023/24 and finished runner-up on it last season. Cordoba is also a master at coming up with big goals for Spain.
Debora Vanin
A tough-tackling centre-back who represented the Brazil U-20s at football, Debora is a prolific winger on courts. She consistently averages more goals than games per season at club level, which is indebted to her thunderous shooting.
Emilly
The reigning Best Women’s Player, despite playing out wide, ripples nets relentlessly. She finished behind only Laura Cordoba in the battle for the Spanish championship’s top goalscorer award in 2023/24, before pipping the same player to the prize last season. Emilly has also netted six times in her last three Brazil games.
Fifo
The 25-year-old may be best known for her balletic feet, but she’s also a sharpshooter supreme. Fifo registered six goals in three games for Portugal in the elite round of UEFA qualifying, and has a favourable group-stage draw to capitalise upon.
Nicole Mancilla
The Colombia sensation was the top scorer at the South American U-20 Women’s Futsal Championship last year and at the Copa America this one. Boasting pace, power, skill and a potent shot, Mancilla is destined to be among the goals in the Philippines.
Silvina Nava
The pocket-sized 23-year-old uses her breathtaking skills to set up strikes for the likes of Amandinha, Ana Luiza and Emilly at Torreblanca Melilla. Nava assumes more scoring responsibility for Argentina, who are expected to accumulate goals against Morocco, Poland and Philippines.
Janice Silva
The slippery pivot has hit 235 goals in 167 games over her last five-and-a-half seasons with Benfica. An extrasensory understanding with the mercurial Fifo should help Janice score serially for Portugal in what is an easier group than some.
Vane Sotelo
Can the top scorer at the maiden UEFA EURO become the top scorer at the maiden World Cup? With elite inventors such as the Cordoba twins, Peque and Irene Samper behind her, Sotelo is in with a shot.
