AS FAR 2-1 ASEC Mimosas
AS FAR goals: El Haj pen (13), Redouani pen (84)
ASEC Mimosas goal: Diallo (55)
Moroccan outfit AS FAR converted two penalties in the final of the 2025 CAF Women’s Champions League to be crowned African champions and secure their place in the FIFA Women’s Champions Cup.
AS FAR wasted no time in opening the scoring, with Hanane Ait El Haj calmly converting a penalty awarded for a foul by Yapo Aboa Kachi Marie Denise on Safa Banouk before the quarter-hour mark. Dangerous on the right wing, particularly through Zineb Erroudany and Banouk, the Moroccans continued to put pressure on the Ivorians.
But the latter came back into the game in the second half, thanks to an excellent move on the right by Sopie Philomene Marie Ange Brou, who crossed with her left foot for Ami Prisca Diallo to score an equalising header. Both teams had several chances after that, notably Ait El Haj from a free-kick and Anissa Lahmari directly from a corner on the Moroccan side, while the Ivorians tested the reflexes of Khadija Er-Rmichi in the Moroccan goal.
In the end, the experienced Zined Redouani, who played at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia & New Zealand™ with Morocco, converted another penalty awarded for a foul by Noura Diarra on Sofia Bouftini. Despite the Ivorians’ efforts to make a final comeback, it was Morocco’s AS FAR who lifted the trophy and secured a place in the Women’s Champions Cup in Morocco, where they will face Chinese outfit Wuhan at Stade Municipal de Berrechid on 14 December.
Wuhan qualified for Round 1 of the FIFA Women’s Champions Cup by winning the AFC Champions League in May. They then defeated Auckland United FC 1-0 in Round 1 of the new women’s competition to qualify for Round 2.
