Morocco recovered a two-goal deficit to edge Philippines and stay alive in this FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup™. Despite an admirable, crowd-thrilling performance, the hosts were eliminated by the result, which also sent Argentina through.
PhilSports Arena erupted when Dionesa Tolentin’s superb strike gave Philippines their first goal in the tournament. Cathrine Graversen then doubled the lead as the Filipina5 threatened a huge upset. Morocco, with Jasmine Demraoui and Meryem Hajri excellent, came fighting back and, by the interval, were ahead.
Morocco now have to upset Poland on Thursday to reach the knockout phase, while Philippines will strive to sign off on a high against Argentina.
