Tanzania edged New Zealand to stay in the hunt for a knockout-phase place at the FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup Philippines 2025™. Gelwa Lugomba was sent off early for handling the ball outside her area, but New Zealand couldn’t capitalise on their two-minute numerical advantage, and thereafter Mary Siyame fired Tanzania ahead. Hannah Kraakman danced through to equalise but goals form Siyame and Winfrida Charles put the Africans two up. Jessica Verdon pulled one back, only for Siyame to seal her treble with seconds remaining.
Tanzania will take on Japan in their final group game, while New Zealand will look for their first win against Portugal.
