Portugal and Brazil book dream final

Portugal and Brazil swept into the first FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup™ final in scintillating style. Argentina found themselves six goals down at the break against the former, while the latter put two past Spain in the first 61 seconds en route to victory.

Argentina 1-7 Portugal

Argentina goal: Mailen Romero (39)
Portugal goals: Lidia Moreira (1 & 9), Fifo (7 & 10), Janice Silva (10), Ana Azevedo (15), Ines Matos (21)
Player of the Match: Janice Silva

Their interchange is extrasensory. Their tricks are breathtaking. Their finishing is lethal. Portugal, somehow, keep getting better and better. An outrageous Ana Azevedo goal, as well as wonderful performances from Fifo, Lidia Moreira and Janice Silva, thrust Luis Conceicao’s side past Argentina. Can anyone crack this Portuguese conundrum?

“In the first half the difference was too big, but I don’t think that’s the real gap between the teams. In the second half we came out much better. It was important for us to finish well, and that’s what happened. Now we have to recover mentally and physically, because we still have to fight for third place.”
Agostina Chiesa, Argentina winger

“I think we have an extremely offensive team. Aside from the goalkeepers, all of our players have scored in this World Cup. It shows that we’re not dependent on one player. Anyone can score for us, anyone can win a game for us. We have so many weapons.”
Ana Catarina Pereira, Portugal goalkeeper

Portugal stormed into the decider having scored 37 goals – eight more than any other team – and conceded only four.

Spain 1-4 Brazil

Spain goal: Ale de Paz (27)
Brazil goals: Ana Luiza (1), Amandinha (2), Debora Vanin (26), Luana (33)
Player of the Match: Amandinha

The record eight-time Best Women’s Player will play in the biggest fixture in female futsal history. Amandinha scored and showcased her genius throughout as Brazil downed Spain in an exhilarating contest. Ana Luiza, Debora Vanin, and Luana Rodrigues also starred for Wilson Saboia’s Seleção, while Bianca pulled off several sensational saves to exasperate the Spaniards.

“We’re very sad because we didn’t play the match we wanted. We didn’t finish the chances we had, and against a team like Brazil that always costs you. Now we just have to move on. We have another final coming. I’m sure we’ll step up and give everything to win a medal.”
Irene Samper, Spain winger

“We knew it would be a gigantic clash between two extremely strong teams. Spain had their moments, but we dominated the game. We’re in the World Cup final. It’s indescribable, unique.”
Luana Rodrigues, Brazil fixo

There were just 10 seconds between Ana Luiza and Amandinha’s goals – the quickest gap between a team scoring twice at Philippines 2025.
