Brazil are the maiden FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup™ champions. The electrifying Emilly, Amandinha and Debora Vanin got the goals as they overcame Portugal in a thrilling final in front of over 5,000 spectators at PhilSports Arena.
Portugal goalkeeper Ana Catarina Pereira pulled off a breathtaking double save from Natalinha and Luana Rodrigues, but she had no chance of stopping an Emilly rocket following Ana Luiza’s luscious lay-off. Luis Conceicao’s charges came back fighting, but Debora Vanin hooked an Ana Azevedo effort off the line and Lidia Moreira headed just wide.
Brazil doubled their advantage shortly after the restart, Amandinha pouncing on a loose ball and splendidly dinking the ball over the grounded Ana Catarina. Thereafter, Emilly decrypted her opponents at will with her mind-blowing repertoire of skills, while Taty did an infallible job on Portuguese superstar Janice Silva. Debora Vanin sealed a deserved victory for Wilson Saboia’s Seleção by finding an empty net from distance as Portugal utilised the fly goalkeeper.
