Tunisia have appointed Sabri Lamouchi as the new men’s national team coach ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026™. The 54-year-old has signed a two-and-a-half year contract with the Tunisian Football Federation.
The decision comes following the departure of Sami Trabelsi earlier this month after the Eagles of Carthage’s round-of-16 exit to Mali at the CAF Africa Cup of Nations.
Lamouchi, who is of French-Tunisian descent, previously managed Rennes, Nottingham Forest, Cardiff City and Al-Riyadh. The former France midfielder also has significant international experience having led Côte d’Ivoire at the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™, where they were knocked out in the group stage.
Tunisia have been drawn in Group F of the World Cup, where they will face the Netherlands, Japan and the winner of the UEFA European play-off path B, which includes Albania, Poland, Sweden and Ukraine.
