Arsenal Women FC v SC Corinthians
FIFA Women’s Champions Cup final

Kick-off times
18:00 (London)

The inaugural edition of the FIFA Women’s Champions Cup™ concludes on Sunday, as European giants Arsenal Women FC battle Brazilian heavyweights SC Corinthians in a match to be crowned as intercontinental queens.
Arsenal qualified for the tournament after overcoming Barcelona in the UEFA Women’s Champions League final in May 2025. That victory automatically put them into the semi-finals, where they beat Moroccan powerhouse ASFAR at Brentford Stadium on 28 January.
Corinthians, meanwhile, booked their spot with a dramatic shootout victory over Deportivo Cali in the CONMBEOL Copa Libertadores Femenina last October. They too started at the semi-final stage, where they squeezed by Concacaf representatives Gotham FC earlier in the day at the same venue.
Route to the final
Renee Slegers’ side had played four matches across various competitions already in 2026 heading into the intercontinental finals, with victories over Aston Villa and Chelsea fuelling confidence among her charges.
They continued that form with a resounding victory over ASFAR. First-half goals from Stina Blackstenius, Frida Maanum, Mariona Caldentey and Olivia Smith put the Gunners in the driving seat, with their exceptional squad depth coming to the fore after the break. Second-half introductions Chloe Kelly, Kim Little and Katie McCabe kept Arsenal’s standards high, with fellow substitute Alessia Russo netting twice to add further gloss to the scoreline.
For Corinthians, the win over Gotham was their first action of the year and the perfect antidote to a disappointing end to 2025, where the Timão lost 5-2 over two legs to Palmeiras in the Paulista Feminino final.
They bounced back with a bang at Brentford Stadium. After being on the back foot for much of the second half versus Gotham, a strong breakaway by Ivana Fuso got her side up the pitch and saw the ball funnelled down Tamires down the left. She crossed for Gabi Zanotti, who swept home an 83rd-minute winner.
Team news
Arsenal welcomed the return of Chloe Kelly after two months out as a 77th-minute substitute in the victory over ASFAR. Leah Williamson, who missed the semi-final, is still being assessed.
Corinthians have no new absentees.
Quotes
“It’s really exciting. It’s a massive opportunity for us as players, I think for the club in general, to get our names etched in history as the first team to win this prestigious trophy. Obviously, it’s the first time for fans, and everyone watching, this sort of thing happening in the female game. So, it’s a step forward for everyone and hopefully an amazing occasion.”
Steph Catley, Arsenal defender
“In this competition, competing against the champions of other continents, we had to earn the right to get into the final. And I think the team did that brilliantly the other night. So, we’re very excited about the final. We’re looking forward to it. It’s a special moment for us, for the players, for the club.”
Renee Slegers, Arsenal coach
“It’s hard even talking about it, because we know how difficult this game will be. It will be one of the hardest games of my career. We know how great Arsenal is in Europe, and we are doing our best to be ready to make another great game, just like we did in the semis.”
Duda Sampaio, Corinthians midfielder
“I really value this moment: it’s the final of a very high-profile cup. We cherish this moment because we know they will have a great number of fans, but I believe that our ‘loyals’ will come and support us too. We’ll be ready to demonstrate a great game on Sunday as well. I believe our journey throughout the years have made us reach this point. There’s been many changes in our squad, but we have players who want to win. In those matches, we are ready to put into practice our game plan. Arsenal is one of the best teams in the world, but we want to leave the UK with the trophy in hand and we’ll do the best we can.
Lucas Piccinato, Corinthians coach
