Lucky No13 for Liechtenstein as Aruba advance

The FIFA Series 2026™ continued in Rwanda on Thursday as Aruba dispatched Macau before Liechtenstein secured a rare international victory by downing African opponents Tanzania. Aruba will now face Liechtenstein in the Rwanda B final at Stade Regional de Nyamirambo in Kigali on Sunday, while Macau meet Tanzania.

Aruba 4-1 Macau

Aruba goals: Carlito Fermina (5), Jaybrien Romano (13, 16), Conner van Kilsdonk (66)
Macau goal: Leong Ka Hang (88)

In the inaugural meeting between the two nations, Aruba emerged victorious thanks to a dominant start in which they took a 3-0 lead with just over a quarter of an hour gone.

Carlito Fermina gave Aruba the advantage thanks to a well-taken volley before Jaybrien Romano netted a quick double from close range. Conner van Kilsdonk made it four midway through the second half with a stunning long-range effort before Leong Ka Hang scored a late consolation for Macau.

Tanzania 0-1 Liechtenstein

Liechtenstein goal: Ferhat Saglam (56)

Liechtenstein secured a surprise success by defeating Tanzania for their first international victory in 13 attempts. Following 12 consecutive defeats – including eight successive losses in UEFA qualifying for the FIFA World Cup 2026™ – the European minnows took down their African opponents thanks to Ferhat Saglam’s brilliant second-half strike. Saglam broke clear of the Tanzania defence, ran 30 yards and calmly slotted the ball into the net.

It was a disappointing performance for Tanzania, who squandered an early opportunity and were looking to continue their momentum after reaching the knockout stages of the Africa Cup of Nations for the first time.
