Shurgello Robertha set up the first and scored a superb second as Aruba upset Liechtenstein 4-1 to win their section of the FIFA Series 2026™ Rwanda. A stunning Rainy Breinburg strike also decorated a magnificent display from the Concacaf outfit. It delivered the most prestigious title in La Selección’s history.
Earlier, Tanzania thrashed Macau to finish third at the Kigali Stade Regional de Nyamirambo in Kagali.
Aruba goals: Jaybrien Romano (18), Shurgello Robertha (24), Rainy Breinburg (69), Jens Hofer (90+4 og)
Liechtenstein goal: Emanuel Zund (52)
Marvic Bermudez’s boys took control from the outset and were rewarded with two fantastic, quick-fire goals. Robertha wriggled inside and delivered a devilish cross, which a diving Romano admirably headed home. Then Robertha conned Livio Meier and curled the ball into the bottom corner of the Liechtenstein net from just inside the penalty area.
Konrad Funfstuck’s team came out fighting following the restart and got one back when Fabio Luque Notaro did magnificently down the right and provided Emanuel Zund with a routine finish. Aruba then went down to 10 men in the 62nd minute when Rovien Ostiana collected his second yellow card.
Liechtenstein pushed for a leveller but were hit on the counter-attack, with Rainy Breinburg scoring a spectacular left-footer. Victory was sealed when Conner van Kilsdonk rounded the goalkeeper and Jens Hofer, attempting to intervene, inadvertently put the ball in his own net.
The final whistle was met with euphoric celebrations from the Aruban players.
Tanzania goals: Goitia Amancio OG (16), Bakari Mwamnyeto (26), Mudathir Abbas (45), Peter Paul (56), Novatus Miroshi (74), Tarryn Allarakhia (87)
The Taifa Stars dominated from start to finish to bag bronze. Amancio headed Charles M’Mombwa’s deflected shot into his own net to put Tanzania ahead, before Mwamnyeto headed home the second from a corner. Abbas made it three with a low drive from outside the box, and Paul added a fourth following unselfish play from M’Mombwa. Miroshi scored the pick of the Tanzania goals with a curler from distance, and Tarryn Allarakhia tapped home at the back post to complete a thumping victory for Miguel Angel Gamond’s men.
