Forty-one players have scored World Cup goals in the No4. The highest-scoring are Croatia’s Ivan Perisic (6 goals), West Germany’s Franz Beckenbauer (5), Australia’s Tim Cahill (5), Argentina’s Daniel Bertoni (4), England’s Steven Gerrard (3) and Mexico’s Rafa Marquez (3).

Five No4s have netted in the final: Nils Liedholm for Sweden against Brazil in 1958, Zito for Brazil against Czechoslovakia in 1962, Carlos Alberto for Brazil against Italy in 1970, Bertoni for Argentina against the Netherlands in 1978, and Perisic for Croatia against France in 2018.
