Argentina and Colombia became the latest teams to book their place at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Poland 2026™ following the conclusion of the South American Under-20 Women’s Football Championship.
Mercedes Diz hit a late hat-trick to give Argentina a 3-0 victory over Colombia in Villa Elisa to secure their place at a second straight finals for the first time since 2008.
That defeat left Colombia level on four points with hosts Paraguay, with only goal difference keeping Las Cafeteras in a qualification spot. Their hopes rested on already-qualified Ecuador to defeat Paraguay and they followed through, with Mary Guerra hitting a treble of her own to help La Tricolor to a 5-1 victory in Ypane.
The pair will join Ecuador and table-topping Brazil in Poland this September. Canada, Costa Rica, England, France, Italy, Mexico, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Portugal, Spain, USA and the hosts are all assured of their places at the 12th edition of the global finals. Four more nations from Asia and Africa respectively will complete the qualification jigsaw.
