Brazil and Ecuador have booked their tickets to the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Poland 2026™ with two rounds of matches to spare at the CONMEBOL U-20 Femenina tournament in Paraguay.
Brazil, who have featured in every previous FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup™, secured their spot at the global showpiece with a 4-0 victory over Argentina in the final phase with goals from Evelin, Clarinha, Brendha and Carioca, giving them three wins from three in the concluding round-robin format after earlier victories over Paraguay (3-1) and Colombia (1-0).
In the last edition of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in 2024, Brazil were eliminated in the quarter-finals after losing 1-0 to eventual winners Korea DPR in Colombia.
Ecuador, meanwhile, will compete in their first-ever FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup after recovering from a challenging start in the CONMEBOL Copa America Femenina Sub 20 group stage to impress in the final phase.
La Tri suffered defeats at the hands of Brazil and Argentina in the initial group stage, but recovered with resounding victories over Bolivia and Peru. In the final phase, they secured qualification after a 2-2 draw with Venezuela, reaching seven points following wins against Colombia (1-0) and Argentina (1-0).
There are two further qualification places open via the Copa America Femenina Sub 20, with Argentina, Colombia, Paraguay and Venezuela all still in contention going into the final two rounds of matches.
