Manchester City goals: Jeremy Doku (9), Pierre Kalulu own goal (26), Erling Haaland (52), Phil Foden (69), Savinho (76)

Manchester City became the only team to finish the FIFA Club World Cup 2025™ group stage with a 100-per-cent record following a comfortable victory over Juventus FC.

City are now the leading scorers at the global showpiece with 13, one ahead of FC Bayern München, after putting on a clinical performance at Camping World Stadium in Orlando to top Group G, and set up a Round of 16 clash with the runners-up in Group H.

Both sides had already secured their place in the knockout phase and there were numerous changes to the starting XIs, with City defensive midfielder Rodri making his first start since suffering an ACL injury in September 2024.

City took the lead after just nine minutes when Rayan Ait Nouri found winger Jeremy Doku, who neatly cut inside Juventus defender Pierre Kalulu and struck the ball into the right corner.

Juventus struck back immediately and equalised just two minutes later when Teun Koopmeiners capitalized on a mistake by City goalkeeper Ederson, who was attempting a pass to Bernardo Silva, to intercept the ball and find the target.

The Premier League giants then retook the lead in surprising fashion in the 26th minute when Kalulu put the ball into his own net in attempting to deal with a dangerous right-wing cross from Matheus Nunes.

City brought on star striker Erling Haaland for the second half and the Norway international found the target just seven minutes after coming on with a bundled effort after a neat through-ball from Nunes. They made it 4-1 when Phil Foden, another substitute, tapped in from close range after neat work from Haaland.

Savinho then capped City’s victory with one of the goals of the global showpiece thus far when he cannoned a long-range effort off the crossbar and into the net. Dusan Vlahovic scored a late consolation for Juventus with just minutes remaining.

As group winners, City will next face the runner-up in Group H back at the Camping World Stadium on 30 June, while Juventus will meet the winners of Group H at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium on 1 July.

Quotes

“There’s bad feeling, we lost and with five goals conceded it’s never nice. But something must also be said about their quality. We are talking about the best team in the world with the best coach in the world. When you talk about football there is no one better than them. This does not take anything away from us, I have nothing to say to my players. This is football, sometimes it is bad but you take this blow and move on, you forget this game, you rest and move on.”
Igor Tudor, Juventus coach

“We rediscovered a style of play we haven’t had in a long time. We had a lot of injuries and we had lost the energy we had. It was very good for us to be together during this time. We played against a strong team today and we did very well. Now we’re going to dinner and we’ll see who we’ll face on Monday.”
Pep Guardiola, Manchester City coach
