Football stars and celebrities talk Club World Cup

Sunday was a day to remember at MetLife Stadium in New York New Jersey. The FIFA Club World Cup 2025™ came to a smashing conclusion with Chelsea FC’s emphatic 3-0 victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the final.

Stars from across the football world were in attendance for this historic event, as were many celebrities from the fields of music, film and other forms of entertainment. They spoke to FIFA on the Gold Carpet upon arriving, gushing with enthusiasm about the tournament.

The common thread running through all of them was that the Club World Cup was a rousing success, as was the fantastic half-time show, headlined by Colombian singer J Balvin with Doja Cat, Tems, Emmanuel Lewis and Chris Martin of Coldplay.

After Sunday’s exclamation point to an amazing four-plus weeks of football, the anticipation is already building for next year’s FIFA World Cup 26™ in the USA.

“It has been a very interesting tournament. The best teams in the world all faced each. There has been a lot of quality [in the Club World Cup].”

“It’s wonderful, truthfully. This entire World Cup was very wonderful. Once the ball started rolling, the people got more and more hooked on it. We got to see some really amazing games and the clubs were all trying to get to the end to win it.”

“The tournament has had a great level. The South American teams were very good and so I’m happy to see that. We are a little jealous as players because we would have loved this in our time!”

“I liked the tournament. I think it was very exciting, especially being here in the US, it was very nice being able to watch games all day.”

“I would have loved to have played this competition. The level was good, I think we have been watching amazing games, some really good games.”

“It’s an exciting day for the sport in our country. I think the tournament has been spectacular. We’ve been working so hard to try to make America a soccer nation, and deliver big events like this, more than two million people came through turnstiles at these games these past couple of weeks. They were very excited about it and it bodes well for the World Cup in 2026. The tournament at the end has been super competitive and it shows the fans here what high level of football there can be.”

“It’s pretty exciting. I’ve done quite a few different football matches before in Europe, in the Bundesliga, Scottish Cup… It’s been fun”

“It’s special to win a title in this building. Being at MetLife again, playing here…. It’s cool to watch this game today.”

“Next year the World Cup is going to come here to New York, so this is a good run-up and I’m just glad to be here…. And next year, the Knicks!”

“I’m really excited. It’s my first proper final, there is a lot happening. I grew up in London, so I’m for Chelsea, my father’s favourite, too. Also, I grew up in a pub, so it’s constantly around us. I’m really happy to be here.”

“It’s amazing. When Gianni Infantino and I spoke two-and-a-half years ago about the dream of uniting the whole world through football with the first ever Club World Cup and then doing the first ever FIFA half-time show, it was absolutely phenomenal. I couldn’t be more excited.”

“I’m super pumped. I’m with incredible humans from J [Balvin] to Doja [Cat] to Tems and some other awesome guests. I’m a Chelsea boy. It’s going to be epic.”
