There will be a distinctly American feel when Gotham FC take on SC Corinthians for a place in the inaugural FIFA Women’s Champions Cup™ final.

Gotham, who are based in the New York metropolitan area, qualified for the showpiece women’s competition following their 1-0 victory over Tigres UANL in the Concacaf W Champions Cup to secure the club’s first continental title. The North American champions followed up that landmark triumph by securing the National Women’s Soccer League title in November.

They will meet Brazil powerhouses Corinthians, who edged Deportivo Cali in a penalty shootout to win the CONMEBOL Libertadores Femenina in October to claim their sixth South American title and third consecutive continental crown. This will be the first-ever meeting between the two sides.

The winners will meet the victors of the second semi-final between Arsenal and ASFAR in the decider at Arsenal Stadium on 1 February.

Current form

Gotham’s last five matches: 3W 1D 1L
Corinthians’ last five matches: 4W 0D 1L

The Bats are yet to return to competitive action in 2026, but ended last year with a bang. After squeezing into the NWSL play-offs, Juan Carlos Amoros’ side toppled Kansas City Current and Orlando Pride for a chance to face Washington Spirit in the Championship game. A late Rose Lavelle goal settled matters that day, as Gotham lifted the title.

Corinthians, like their American counterparts, will begin this year at the FIFA Women’s Champions Cup. The Timão made it to the Paulista Feminino final last December after getting by Sao Paulo in the semis. Sadly for Lucas Piccinato’s side, though, they were defeated 5-2 by Palmeiras in the two-legged decider.

Eight players to watch at the FIFA Women’s Champions Cup 2026

What they said…

“We’re really excited. We’re honoured to represent our league and to represent our country on this stage. It’s something that teams haven’t done before and it’s exciting and new.”
Tierna Davidson, Gotham captain

“It’s always cool to be one of the first teams [to be] a part of something. It’s just such a special opportunity for all four teams.”
Rose Lavelle, Gotham midfielder

“We know that [Corinthians] are a very good team and have won their league many times, so going into this game we know we have to be prepared to our absolute best. It’s going to be a very physical match just from the film that we’ve watched so we need to have that mentally in our minds. It’s going to be a different style of play from what we’re used to.”
Jaelin Howell, Gotham midfielder

“Once again, Corinthians will be able to show what we’re capable of. We’ve already become the benchmark in South America; now we want to be the global benchmark. The FIFA Women’s Champions Cup represents all the work we’ve put in.”
Tamires, Corinthians defender

“I can’t believe I’ll be playing in the first-ever global tournament. This will stay with us for life. I hope we can bring the trophy back and write our names into Corinthians history.”
Nicole, Corinthians goalkeeper
