Group A

Costa Rica v Brazil

17:00 in Rabat
10:00 in San Jose
13:00 in Brasilia

Led by a sparkling Giovanna Waksman in their opening-game win on Friday, Brazil are in a good position ahead of their second match at this World Cup. Rilany Silva’s charges will have the opportunity to take a huge step towards the knockout stage with a positive result. Costa Rica, however, will be expected to put up a strong fight. Despite losing to Italy in their first match, they showed plenty of attacking promise in the game.

Morocco v Italy

20:00 in Rabat
21:00 in Rome

After their opening-day defeat to Brazil, Morocco will attempt to bounce back at the Rabat Olympic Stadium, but will need to be at their best in front of their home crowd. Italy, who made a strong impression by beating Costa Rica 3-0, will be out to build on that momentum and secure a place in the last 16.

Group B

Korea DPR v Cameroon

14:00 in Rabat
22:00 in Pyongyang
14:00 in Yaounde

Cameroon were involved in what was probably the most entertaining match of the first round of games but, despite their efforts, lost 4-3 to the Netherlands. They will be looking to get back on track in Group B and pick up their first points, but this will be no easy task against Korea DPR, who overwhelmed Mexico in their opener. Coach Pak Song-in said his side are determined to “do even better in their second match”.

Netherlands v Mexico

20:00 in Rabat
21:00 in Amsterdam
13:00 in Mexico City

In their historic first U-17 Women’s World Cup game, the Netherlands were leading Cameroon 2-0 after six minutes and looked set for a comfortable victory. The Dutch, however, were pushed to their limits by a resilient Cameroon team and had to dig deep to secure a 4-3 success. “We came here to win the tournament, we are European champions, but we don’t consider ourselves stronger than the others”, striker Liv Pennock told FIFA after the match. Against Mexico, they will have an opportunity to move closer to the Round of 16, but they can expect another big challenge against a team out to respond to their 2-0 defeat to Korea DPR.

Group C

USA v China PR

17:00 in Rabat
12:00 in Washington, D.C.
00:00 in Beijing (on 22 October)

Katie Schoepfer’s USA team came to Morocco with a firm intention of finally winning the nation’s U-17 world title. Their quest for global glory got off to an ideal start with a 3-0 victory over a spirited Ecuador. They are likely to face a tougher challenge against China PR, who swept Norway aside 5-0 in their opening game.

Norway v Ecuador

20:00 in Rabat
21:00 in Oslo
14:00 in Quito

Norway coach Eline Kulstad-Torneus said her team will need to prove in several facets of the game following their defeat to China. “In possession, our passes have to connect, we have to find the right players and we have to dare to make the right decisions with the ball,” she said. They will now have to contend with an Ecuadorian team also hoping to pick up their first points. “We’ve got what it takes,” said coach Victor Idrobo after their loss against USA. “We have to forget about the defeat and believe that we can win.”
