Korea DPR down Dutch to claim another crown

Final

Korea DPR 3-0 Netherlands

Korea DPR goals: Kim (14), Pak (18), Ri (42)

Korea DPR are champions once again of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup™ after cruising past the Netherlands in the Morocco 2025 final. The Asian side earned their second successive title and fourth overall.

Korea DPR struck early, as the Dutch failed to handle a looping cross into the area and Kim Won-sim swooped in to steer home a header.

The high press from the Asian side was suffocating the Netherlands, and it quickly became two when a turnover led to an easy finish for Pak Rye-yong.

An under-hit back pass from the Dutch defence then gave Korea DPR a third before the break, with goalkeeper Maren Groothoff’s hurried clearance blocked into net by Ri Ui-gyong.

Korea DPR remained in control in the second half and comfortably saw things out to complete their impeccable campaign.

Quotes

“I’m very proud of the girls. It was a tough game against Korea DPR. They were the better team, but if I see the bigger picture and how we grew in the tournament, I’m very proud of the girls. It was a good tournament for us, and I think we cannot imagine a better start in the U-17 World Cup. Playing against Cameroon, Korea DPR, United States, Mexico – we played against so many countries and different cultures. That’s amazing for their development.”
Olivier Amelink, Netherlands coach

“We show the world who we are, and we’re very proud of that. It’s sad we didn’t win, but we showed the world we’re one team, and we fought every minute. We never gave up. And you can show everything is possible every game again.”
Kim Rietveld, Netherlands defender
