Mbappe hospitalised with illness

Kylian Mbappe has been hospitalised with “acute gastroenteritis”, Real Madrid C. F. have announced.

“Our player Kylian Mbappe has acute gastroenteritis and has been hospitalised for various tests and treatment,” a short statement on the club’s website read.

The France international, who has netted a record 43 goals already in his debut season with Los Blancos, also missed his side’s opening FIFA Club World Cup 2025™ clash with Al Hilal due to the issue, and appears set for further time out of the side.

“I don’t know if Mbappe will be back for the next game (against CF Pachuca on Sunday),” head coach Xabi Alonso said following the draw in Miami. “We’ll see. He wasn’t doing well in the last two days. He’s sick.”

Real will finish their Group H campaign against fellow European outfit FC Salzburg in Philadelphia next Friday.
