Poland have become the fifth and final European team to advance to the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Morocco 2026™ after defeating England 2-0 in a play-off on Thursday.
The pair met in the winner-takes-all clash at the UEFA Women’s Under-17 Championship in Northern Ireland after they finished third in their respective groups.
Poland had the better of the play in the first half and eventually got the opener shortly before half-time when Zofia Burzan powered past Amarachukwu Nwankwo and fired low into the bottom-left corner. Burzan then doubled her tally in the 55th minute with a fine finish to seal the victory.
Paulina Kawalec’s side, whose only previous appearance at the global finals came when they reached the last eight of Dominican Republic 2024, will be joined in Morocco by fellow European qualifiers France, Germany, Norway and Spain.
In total, 24 teams will battle for global glory. The tournament will run from 17 October to 7 November.
