Two matches were decided in extra time at the tournament, and both were settled by 104th-minute winners. Sanaa Mssoudy scored ASFAR’s deciding goal in a comeback win over Wuhan in that minute in Round 2. The destination of the trophy was then confirmed by a 104th-minute strike by Arsenal’s Caitlin Foord versus Corinthians in the showpiece match.

When Corinthians’ Gabi Zanotti netted against Gotham FC in the semi-final, the final phase’s oldest player was assisted by the third-oldest. Tamires, 37, swung the ball in from the left, and the 40-year-old icon did the rest with a well-placed strike.

Arsenal’s Frida Maanum scooped the Best Player by VISA prize as the tournament’s standout performer. She’s the first Norwegian to win a personal honour at a FIFA tournament for some 31 years, when Hege Riise and Ann Kristin Aarones won the adidas Golden Ball and Golden Boot respectively at FIFA Women’s World Cup Sweden 1995™, as the Nordics won the title.

Tamires has taken her tally of matches in FIFA competitions to 25. The stalwart left-back has played at every FIFA Women’s World Cup™ since Canada 2015, while appearing at three successive Women’s Olympic Football Tournaments from 2016 to 2024. She then added two further appearances against Gotham and Arsenal.

Gotham’s Rose Lavelle has now played in six FIFA tournaments. The midfielder first appeared at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Canada 2014™. She then starred as USA won the FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019™, before playing at Australia & New Zealand 2023. The States star scored bronze at the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament Tokyo 2020, and clinched gold at Paris 2024.

Each of the first five goalscorers at these finals came from the same nation as their club. It wasn’t until Swede Stina Blackstenius netted for Arsenal eight minutes into the tournament’s fourth game that the streak ended.

Wuhan star Wang Shuang has now scored at three different FIFA tournaments. The China PR forward netted at the 2020 Women’s Olympic Football Tournament, and at the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023™. She took her scoring touch to the club game in Round 2, netting the opener against ASFAR, though it wasn’t enough to see her side through.

Gabi Zanotti was the only player to net in two different matches. The midfield veteran swung in the winner versus Gotham, and then headed home Corinthians’ first equaliser in the ding-dong decider with Arsenal.

ASFAR’s Yolande Gnammi became the first female Beninese player to appear at a FIFA competition. The forward made history when she came on as a second-half substitute against Wuhan in Round 2.
