Umeh on Ronaldo, LeBron and ‘joyful’ U-17 World Cup

Jaden Umeh has starred as the Republic of Ireland have advanced to the Round of 16 at the FIFA U-17 World Cup™ in their first-ever appearance at the tournament.

They will continue their incredible journey when they take on Switzerland on Tuesday, with a place in the quarter-finals at stake.

Ahead of the game, you can learn more about Irish attacker Umeh, who answered a series of quick-fire questions for our ‘Get to Know’ series.

Cristiano Ronaldo. From the first time I watched him, he was just wonderful. He can do everything. That’s what I want to do as well.

I’d say Ronaldo again! His lifestyle, how he treats himself. It’s just amazing.

Funny, loud, sometimes a joker. It depends on the team-mate you ask. Some people might say I’m nice, some people might say I’m jumpy!

I like to play basketball a lot.

It would definitely have to be LeBron (James)!

I’d go for jollof rice.

Rafael Leao. We’re the same height. He’s fast, powerful, good at dribbling, likes to shoot. That’s what I like to do too.

That’s a good question! It would either be flying or super-strength. I’ll go for flying.

Having this opportunity is wonderful. It’s just joyful, you know?
