Alerrandro

Vitoria v Cruzeiro | 19 August 2024

On-loan Brazilian forward Alerrandro made quite the impact during his spell with Vitoria from RB Bragantino, including scoring this stunning overhead volley during a Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A fixture last year. While the exquisitely-executed effort was enough to put Vitoria 2-0 up, they were eventually pegged back to draw 2-2. Alerrandro has since signed for CSKA Moscow.

Alessandro Deiola

Cagliari v Venezia | 18 May 2025

Cagliari midfielder Alessandro Deiola set the seal on an emphatic 3-0 victory over Venezia in Italy’s Serie A with this sublime goal. A delightful exchange of passes on the left flank had the visiting defence chasing shadows before the Italian was released into the penalty area to curl the ball across helpless goalkeeper Ionut Radu and into the far corner of the net.

Pedro de la Vega

Cruz Azul v Seattle Sounders | 31 July 2025

7-0 victories are a rarity. 7-0 victories for an MLS side against a Liga MX opponent even more so. 7-0 victories for an MLS side over a Liga MX opponent completed with a goal of this quality deserve almost mythical status. The Seattle Sounders had Cruz Azul on the ropes in their Leagues Cup encounter when Argentine winger Pedro de la Vega received a sweeping cross-field ball on the left of the penalty box and executed a perfect first-time side-foot volley for the knockout blow.

Santiago Montiel

Independiente v Independiente Rivadavia | 11 May 2025

There looked to be little danger for Independiente Rivadavia when they cleared a corner early in the second half of their Argentine Primera Division clash with Independiente. But Santiago Montiel had other ideas. Outside the box, with his back to goal and a bouncing headed clearance dropping out of the sky, the versatile Argentine produced a spectacular overhead kick for the only goal of the game.

Amr Nasser

Al Ahly v Pharco | 17 April 2025

Egyptian giants Al Ahly suffered a shock 2-1 defeat at the hands of Pharco in the Egypt Capital Cup as Amr Nasser’s glorious goal gave his side a 2-0 advantage. With shades of Cristiano Ronaldo’s unforgettable Champions League strike for Real Madrid against Juventus, Egyptian forward Nasser demonstrated similar athleticism with an overhead kick of equal quality, precision and power.

Carlos Orrantia

Queretaro v Atlas | 16 April 2025

Atlas right-back Carlos Orrantia is hardly known for his goalscoring prowess, having netted just a handful of times during his 15-year playing career. But the Mexican defender’s opener in this Liga MX encounter, which ended 2-1 in favour of the visitors, will live long in the memory. Collecting the goalkeeper’s punch to outside the box on his chest, Orrantia bamboozled a defender by moving the ball from his left foot to his right knee before volleying home with his right foot.

Lucas Ribeiro

Mamelodi Sundowns v Borussia Dortmund | 21 June 2025

The inaugural FIFA Club World Cup 2025™ featured a host of spectacular strikes, none more so than Lucas Ribeiro’s effort for Mamelodi Sundowns, which was voted goal of the tournament. The Brazilian forward picked up the ball in his own half and burst clear of the Dortmund midfield and defence to give the South African side a 1-0 lead, with a pulsating seven-goal encounter eventually being edged by the German giants.

Declan Rice

Arsenal v Real Madrid | 8 April 2025

Arsenal’s England international midfielder Declan Rice had already fired home one world-class free-kick in this UEFA Champions League meeting when he stepped up to take a second. And once again, one of the world’s foremost goalkeepers, Thibaut Courtois, was left grasping at thin air as Rice’s powerful, curling, right-foot strike flew into the top corner, with the Gunners going on to triumph 3-0.

Rizky Ridho

Persija Jakarta v Arema | 9 March 2025

With 61 minutes and 33 seconds on the clock, Persija Jakarta captain Rizky Ridho was near his own corner flag. Ten seconds later, the centre-back had opened the scoring after a neat exchange of passes, a lung-bursting run into the opponents’ half and an audacious long-range effort which sailed over the goalkeeper and dipped just under the bar. Sadly for the Indonesia international, his side would go on to lose this Indonesian Liga 1 match 3-1.

Kevin Rodrigues

Kasimpasa v Rizespor | 9 February 2025

Another defender to grace the list, Kevin Rodrigues had his team-mates holding their heads in disbelief after his jaw-dropping opener in this Turkish Super Lig clash. As a headed clearance dropped in his vicinity some 20 yards from goal, the France-born former Portugal international unleashed a left-foot volley which flew on an unstoppable parabola into the far top corner of the net, with the home side going on to win 3-1.

Lamine Yamal

Espanyol v Barcelona | 15 May 2025

Teenage sensation Lamine Yamal already has multiple highlights reels devoted to his goalscoring exploits, but even by the incredibly high standards of the Spain international, this was something special. Cutting inside in trademark fashion, Yamal casually curled a awe-inspiring left-foot effort into the top corner to set Barca on their way to an eventual 2-0 triumph which secured La Liga glory for the Catalan giants.
